Fruits of the Spirit #9

Joy as defined by the poetic dictionary:

When you shudder in a heat that surges though your veins, and tears and smiles merge to become one and the same. The tongue has so much to say, but sits still waiting, for the heart to stop pacing; for words to brim and put meaning to this undefined elation, slowly analyzing this sensation. No verses form, no poetry, only one word holds: joy.

Other definitions include:

  • The wagging tail of a dog, the life in his eyes, and the love in his heart, for a presence that he adores. The return of a loved one.
  • The beginning of an adventure, the map marked and studied, when treasures are so close to the dreaming soul but so far in reality. But just as much, joy is also in the fruitful end, when the quest that was riddled with attrition, seems like an old friend under the light of your glistening success.
  • Joy is the air around a group of friends, who know the depths of each other souls. It is the conversation that incessantly unfolds of all stories old and new.

Synonyms Include:

  • Mirth
  • Pleasure
  • Happiness
  • Elation

Antonyms Include:

  • Sorrow
  • Despair
  • Sulk
  • Lugubrious

Some say joy is a guest of choice, we can host her when we want, while others find her an elusive spirit, like butterflies, just fluttering about. The unanimous stance, if there is any, is that joy is what we seek, she is the element that makes ordinary, a memory to cherish and keep.

Fantastic.

Fruits of the Spirit #7

Love as defined by the poets dictionary:

Definition: Love allows for this break in style.

Of love we the poets agree to say little

Of love we the poets agree to say much,

For it stifles the verbose

And makes garrulous

Those wonderful few who are traditionally

Iconically

Ironically

Laconic.

It’s big ideas from small minds, still better than all the complacency of the brilliant.

It’s the ink in this pen, only being itself no matter where it’s placed.

Love is the guerilla act of kindness

In minefield valleys, and stormy mountains.

It is love that perished in an act

Of veil tearing demonstration

That love and justice need each other

To be themselves.

In the dying of love, death was defeated, how lovely.

Love is the adhesive property, holding my cells together.

Love always extends the helping hand,

Not caring how barbarous the individual in need may be.

Love holds two souls together in affection, adoration, and commitment.

Love blots out ones tears with tender lips.

Antonyms: Hatred, fear, self preservation at the cost of others well being.

Only love inflates the space between the words, to remind you your story will stay afloat.

– Vagabond Prophet

– That’s me finished, @mildreflections it’s all yours now pal.

Fruits of the Spirit #6

Goodness as defined by the poets dictionary:

Definition: Goodness can’t fit properly in a person so it comes out the hands and it pours out the lips.

Goodness cares nothing for its host, but rather for those around the host. This most generous of parasites that would give your possessions away simply because another has greater need.

Other definitions include: The change one wants to see in the world, dancing down the street to unheard music handing out sandwiches.

Care for others, regardless of liking the others in question.

Antonyms: Selfish, self-centered, Unempathetic.

Only goodness forsakes its own hunger, to feed a starving stranger.

Self-Control as defined by the poetic dictionary:

To take a breath and count to ten, dissolving vehemence without spiting venom. To hold your ground and be the bigger man, even if your world is in mayhem and the frenzy overwhelms.

· To want patiently, never forcing or pushing for things forbidden.

·  Never crossing the line between desire and greed, knowing the worth of               morals over ambition.

·  Letting ripples of stones gently pass, finding stillness soon enough.

Synonyms Include:

·  Patience

·  Calm

·   Balanced

Antonyms Include:

·  Hot headed

·  Reckless

·  Careless

Self- control is to love cookies but never finish the box, always keeping something for the rest of us.

Gentleness as defined by the poets dictionary:

A softness of spirit that aims to caress rather than bludgeon. Instead of softly spoken lies gentleness speaks truth, fanning the flames of timid souls. Always edifying always encouraging.

Other definitions include: A tender heart expressed in tender touch.

Kindest of instructors, teaching by example and love never by the rod or with condemnation.

Antonyms: Violent, angry, rough, unkind.

Fruits of the Spirit #3

Faithfulness as defined by the poets dictionary:

Definition: Anchors firmly dug into place, to a solid ground nobody else believes is there. Mocks and jeers go floating past as you realize the irony that nobody notices you are not swept away by torrents of madness, despair, or tragedy. Strength tempering your bones into something unrecognizable but so much stronger.

Other definitions include: The knowledge that nobody taught you that guides your every move.

The immovable convictions of a country not found in maps, content that you the amateur cartographer that you are will diligently chart it all when you get there.

Having a song stuck in your head that you’ve never heard before, and believing that the composer is whispering in a language just for the two of you.

Antonyms include: Cynicism, refusal to separate truths from facts braided though they are, uninvested in the definitions given by the compass of your soul. Untethered as a buoy that warns of nothing.

Only faith promises that there is more to the ocean than water; all because of a dream you once had of it taking your sins out to sea and down to Davie Jones and sending back in their place salvation.

– Vagabond Prophet

Fruits of the Spirit #2

Peace as defined by the poets dictionary

Definition: A tranquility of the spirit that envelopes body, mind, and soul.

Slowing and making graceful your actions for the lack of emergency. The cool waters to calm the aching muscles of your weary heart. The world spinning on as it ever did but your own thoughts remain steady and don’t sway in every wind that blows by, untossed by the waves that ebb and flow. Anchored to steadiest of ground and content in a secure hope, casting aside worries, not because they’re not worrisome but because peace covers it and renders it unimportant.

Other definitions include: The draught that aims to tame the flame which burns your passion into poison.

Achievement and maintenance of amiable relations with your neighbours, forgetting the grass and the corresponding colours but learning about the people behind the fences and being okay with the differences.

Antonyms: Anxiety, restlessness, anger, wrath, violence.

Only peace endeavours to leave blood unspilled, instead doing its good work to bring air where before was only despair.

– Vagabond Prophet

@mildreflections thanks for coming along on this journey, can’t wait to see what you come up with next.
