4.5 Hours

4.5 hours sleep

Is not enough to support

Corporate expectations.

I’ll just hope that

I get all my stumbling out

Into this journal.

Oh that my sleeplessness

Transformed to black ink

Would take forms

Unthought of in wakefulness.

So I’ll bleed ink

Until the prolonged blink

Where they begin to

Carve my headstone

With keen edged tools

And heavy blows.

They’ll lower to the grave

Luckily shaped like bed

Then and then only will I rest.

– Vagabond Prophet

I wake up late and full of worry

When you find me,

You’re both judge and jury

I’m stressing unnecessary.

You sentence me to relinquish

Things that I can’t handle

For I’m nearly crushed

Even by the things I can.

Vagabond Prophet

Running like mad,

Arms flailing

Legs wheeling

Breath burning.

The bus takes the bend

And I realize

It was never the right one.

It’s sign shouting #1

Yet as it rushed up behind me

All I could think of

Was a fear of being forgotten.

Vagabond Prophet

How quickly I became bankrupt
In the absence of yourself,
I didn’t know until I left you forlorn
Abandoned in the far reaches of the echo
That I’d been living cup to cup
For a love now gone cold.

When I return let there yet be
Some faint embers left in which
We can partake.

Vagabond Prophet

– This is what happens when a guy like me forgets his coffee at home before work starts.

A Day in the Life

5:30 A.M.

Beep Beep Beep,

Snooze.

6:00 A.M.

Beep Beep Beep,

I should really get up

Snooze.

6:30 A.M.

Beep Beep Beep.

Okay now I really need to get up,

Those dollars aren’t going to milk themselves.

Coffee, driving, walking, lifting, dreaming.

Coffee, driving, dinner,

People I love, people I work to provide for.

Coffee, writing, more dreaming.

5:30 A.M.

Beep beep beep

Snooze.

– Vagabond Prophet

Not Even Clouds

All week long, frigid mornings

And warm afternoons,

Cold sweats,

Hot sweats.

Thursday comes and it’s time

To wisen up, no coat

Just my experience and hope

To keep me warm until the P.M.

That’s the day that mother nature

Couldn’t hold it any longer,

Leaking out so rapidly

Not even clouds could absorb

Before soaking me through.
