Timezones

Sleeping in same bed

Yet time zones apart from one another,

Him straining for a future hoping it’s different

Her yearning for a past that never changes.

Different beds now,

Followed their watches

Did either get what they wanted?

Will I always be haunted,

Wondering if it could have been different?

What if they’d got help

What if we switched leftover night

To Thursdays?

There was never anything left of them by Friday.

My rumination waxing

Never gets any answers,

Just resolutions.

It’ll be different for me.

A Day in the Life

5:30 A.M.

Beep Beep Beep,

Snooze.

6:00 A.M.

Beep Beep Beep,

I should really get up

Snooze.

6:30 A.M.

Beep Beep Beep.

Okay now I really need to get up,

Those dollars aren’t going to milk themselves.

Coffee, driving, walking, lifting, dreaming.

Coffee, driving, dinner,

People I love, people I work to provide for.

Coffee, writing, more dreaming.

5:30 A.M.

Beep beep beep

Snooze.

Back to Pulp

Pfft tss Pfft tss tss

Pfft tss Khh Pfft tss Khh

Beatboxing onto paper,

Ink instead of sticks

Pages instead of cymbals.

A drummer with no skins to beat

So I’ll beat the paper back to pulp

And shape it into sticks

Just you wait and see.

Bmm Bmm bmmmm

Sts bsst bsst bmphh.

Curtain Call

Let my mind run wild

In a meadow mild

Every thought a soliloquy

Just between you and me.

You’ve been audience and stage

You’ve been lines on the page

You’ve been curtains and ropes

You’ve been keeping up my hopes.

I was always performing for you

Didn’t always know it true,

But here I am and standing tall

Awaiting my curtain call.

The Gale

I was the bird and you the gale,

Flap as I may I always needed you,

You could dash me to the ground too,

And you have time and time again.

Maybe to remind me my wings

Are only as good as the air

You place beneath them,

I’m not free

You could take the sky from me.

Gravity

vagabondprophet:

Gravity reversed

Taking everything

Away from me.

Reality accursed

Spinning shadows

In the daylight.

Day dreams perverse

Twisting innocence

Into cruelty.

I don’t want to know

What I’d be like

If you withdrew fully.

I already look in the mirror

And think there’s too much me,

Like gravity’s reversed

Taking everything away from me.

Two Hundred Steps

Two hundred steps to

The mouth of truth

Open up that gaping maw

Crack wide the snapping jaw.

In its eye no mystery

Just a need

A need to consume

And strip my costume.

Violins play as I walk

I’ll learn your insides next

I’ll be a student of your teeth

An apprentice of true relief.
